Some parts of Lucas Films are distributed through Walt Disney, which bought Lucas Films in 2012 for US$4.06 billion and earned distribution rights to all subsequent Star Wars films. A Former Distributor, 20th Century Fox retains Physical Distribution Rights for the first two Star Wars Trilogies and owns permanent rights to the original 1977 film, etc.Â
